A trip to Sydney wouldn't be complete without stopping into the Prints Charming studio, I am SO glad I did.
It was a hub of creative activity with preparations in full swing for the annual market day.
So, if you are in Sydney on November 28th, you must stop in...lots of fantstic goodies from napkins to kids clothing but my favourites had to be the prints on linen.

The possibilities are endless...

Birds of Paradise..
This fabric has finally made it into the engagement present quilt, just in the nick of time as I am doing a solo dash to Sydney tomorrow for the party.
There are a few things I really love about this quilt and a few things I don't.
LOVE the layout which was largely inspired by Rita's Spring quilt.
LOVE the quilting, Karen has again done a fantastic job.
LOVE the Saffron Craig parrot print.
NOT so loved up on the Valorie Wells fabric...too pink for me and the orange is a little on the fluro side.
Actually, Im really not taken with this one at all.
Thankfully, the fabric was picked by the recipient so I know they will love it and that's all that counts...right??
The quilt measures 60" x 60" and is bound with the Valorie Wells fabric.
Onto happier things, I received my embroidery swap yesterday...created by the lovely Karen.
This, I am quite taken with, this I LOVE. Thanks Karen - it is perfect x

Moments...
For me, one of the great things about reading blogs is the eye candy. I love finding photos that seem to showcase a quilt or fabric in a way that is just right.
I'm not sure about you...but I find it very hard to achieve the 'perfect' photo. I may take about ten photos to get one that I am happy with.
Master photographer I'm not and I do find the process exhasusting, especially when I am trying to run the house, read other blogs and find the time to sew.
It was refreshing to read Amy's post on Moments.
So I'm going to try, extra hard, to let go of some of my perfectionist traits and show you a little bit of 'real life' stuff. Not all the time, just now and then to give you a small glimpse of what goes on, outside the photo frame.
I have a few quilts on the go but over the last couple of weeks I have been finishing off some projects for two swaps I joined.
The fisrt swap, was The Pillow Talk swap..pretty clear what we had to do here. I made Heather a pillow using some linen, Denyse Schmidt Country Fair and Nani Iro fabric.
I was pretty pleased with the outcome and was VERY tempted to hold onto it!
The next swap is the "Hand Stitched" embroidery swap and boy did I struggle with this one. It took three attempts and two design changes before I was happy enough to send this off. I can't reveal who my partner is until they get the package...I hope they enjoy it!

GiddyUp...
The GiddyUp baby quilt has been finished and is off to be enjoyed by another new arrival.
Before we get to the finished product, I thought I would show you an important part of the quilting process - basting.
I learnt how to machine quilt at a class run by Deb Louie, apart from it being VERY comprehensive Deb, instilled the importance of basting and it is something I never rush.
The finished quilt top..
The pieced back..
And on another note...
The winner of the Blogtoberfest Giveway is: "Leonie Guld said...Its just to dam hard to choose!!! Ok, Ok, red...oh...green...oh...red.....Its RED!"
Congratulations Leonie, drop me a mail with your contact details and I will whip up a lovely little package for you. Thanks to everyone for playing along.

Pins and Points...
Another month, another 'Around the Block' block...well in this case it's two blocks.
The lovely Lara sent out a great mix of chocolate, orange and blue fabrics and requested strong, bold and clear blocks influenced by stars and pinwheels.
Introducing the Nine Patch Star which measures 12".
And the 'Cant' Stop Spinning' Pinwheel (who comes up with these names?!?) which also measures 12"
I hope you like the blocks Lara and I look forward to seeing them all together.
